A bit of a rebellious title to my second blog, which isn’t really me...but I’ve had two dressage sessions in the last few days, have been made to go backwards in both and I really can’t understand why! Mum keeps telling me I have to go more forwards and keeps kicking her little legs like a pony clubber, so I really can’t understand then why she wants me to go backwards instead of forwards! She says it’s to increase engagement and to get my hocks under me more, but I just chuckle to myself...‘not the way I do it!’
I might have seen some of you at the NER dressage demo last Monday in Kilronan. I had great fun and it was really nice to have a proper audience instead of just Mango the cat! I hope all of you that were there have finally warmed up...I had two big fleecy rugs on, so was nice and toasty until it was my turn. I was last to go and Uncle Niall had me doing some sideways stuff which I’m quite good at, though that travers thing was new to me. I thought it was a bit dangerous actually as it meant I had to keep my head quite close to the wall of the arena and I had to dodge lots of monsters that lurked behind all the signs! We did some of that rein back stuff and Niall kept poking me in the shoulder - Of course I’m going to go backwards when someone does that and I’ve been threatened that a ‘shoulder poking device’ will be invented to make me do them properly at home! My favourite bit was the fab round of applause I got at the end and I thought I’d play the diva and pretend to be scared...I don’t really do medium trot yet (I pretend I don’t know how, but it’s really that I think it’s funny when mum starts to flap around trying to make me go faster) but this was an ideal opportunity to show off what I can actually do and frustrate her that I won’t do it when asked, but can when I want to!
Had a bit of a barney today with my field mate Gemma...mum calls her ‘Hally’s evil twin’ as she’s the spitting image of my uncle Hally (whom I unfortunately never got to meet...he passed away before I was welcomed into the family :( , but I’ve heard wonderful things about him). Not sure what I did wrong, but I got into serious trouble for it anyway...!
Tomorrow we’re supposed to be going to Tattersalls to go hunter trialling, which will be mega craic. It was such a fab day today, I really hope it’s as sunny tomorrow – not a big fan of rain!
Anyway, better sign off and get some rest before tomorrow. I hope you all have a fantastic St Patricks Day, whatever you get up to!
Talk soon
Fuzzy Bear xx
